Debt Validation Request

By Fair Debt Collection Practices Act debt collectors are required to send a written debt validation notice with information about the debt they’re trying to collect.

The debt validation letter includes:

• The amount owed.

• The name of the creditor seeking payment.

• A statement that the debt is assumed valid by the collector unless you dispute it within 30 days of the first contact.

• A statement that if you write to dispute the debt or request more information within 30 days, the debt collector will verify the debt by mail.

• A statement that if you request information about the original creditor within 30 days, the collector must provide it.

If you are interested in settling your debt but can’t afford the payment amount the debt collector is demanding. You can get it settled for less by offering them a payment agreement that meets your financial needs.

Remove Inaccurate Information

 Disputing with a debt collector has no impact on your credit score unless the debt collector agrees to remove the debt.  Some information on your credit report has no impact on credit scores, such as identification and address information.

You can request to have information removed and deleted if the information on your report is incorrect on your credit report. t.
